I ve noticed everywhere you go there seems to be a "go with what you know" attitude in a lot of shops around the UK annually when it comes to firework brands they sell.

It's usually mainstream familiar brands, like Standard Black Cat or Bright Star and sometimes DRD and nothing else, Standard and Black Cat have gone down over the years with pieces that are more expensive for what they are and no individuality whatsoever while Bright Star is a mix-50% rubbish, 30% fair or average and only 20% thats ACTUALLY good and DRD is a mix of ridiculous RRP's and fair to mixed performance. It would be nice if more shops could do better brands like RP Brothers Skycrafter Celtic etc and bring some interesting products into their annual Nov 5/nye offering. ;)

Specialists, seasonal specialists and the odd warehouse type place will sell the better brands (brothers, celtic, RP etc) because they are less selling for profit.
To answer your actual question, chains choose a brand that will give them profit and that consumers think are quality; standard are the oldest brand in the country thats still going, so people trust their products. For these reasons, TNT, Standard and Black Cat are preferred over other, maybe lesser known, brands
