Unfortunately having spoken to a specialist retailer who is in close contact with the various brands that import to the UK, it seems a lot are at risk of closing down their companies next year, as he was explaining he has containers sitting in the ports of Roterdam waiting to come to the UK and it is costing him £30K per container which inevitably leads to cost increases which have to be passed down to the consumer wether it be reduction in NEC, increase in prices or a combination of both.

And stop our yearly pleasure!

The vets are extremely stupid in wanting fireworks banned from retail sale and public use because it will only encourage illegal blackmarket sales and use of fireworks which the Govt can't stop.

Be careful what you wish for!

If anything I'd rather restrict what the consumer can buy in shops to low noise fireworks and 'reduced noise' fireworks only rather than a full outright ban.

The lower noise fireworks have less of the power to shock and frighten animals and people, guaranteed they won't be silent i.e. no low noise or 'reduced noise' firework ever is, but is less of a toll on them.

I agree. They have so much fireworks in Valencia all year around and no one seems to mind.

It might be scary to some animals but proper training can help most of them.

A lot of people who hate fireworks use their pet as an excuse to moan. And Anthony is quite right, a ban would mean loads of black market stuff and fireworks that would scare/hurt people as well as their molly-coddled pets.

i do agree with you that it will just encourage the illegal making of fireworks

ngl i agree with that , i think a lot of people who don’t like fireworks use their pets as an excuse to however not everyone would go out of there way to properly train there pets for a couple of nights of fireworks at this time of year

Looks like The Range have updated their prices online? Only had a quick scan but there's some nasty increases!

The Slammer £8.99 > £12.49
Party selection box £29.99 > £44.99 (read somewhere this has lost a lot of NEC too)
Armageddon £44.99 > £62.49
Imperial Selection Box £79.99 > £124.99

Is anyone being put off with buying pyro this year with the current situation?

Only from the range. My pyro man as made my night worthwhile. The range I seen there prices for this year. I will not vist them. Tbh I'd of only wasted money. :)

I went to the range last night at gateshead and there was hardly anything on display compared to the usual I'm used to. Fair enough it was the 4th November so quite late in the day for sales but was still disappointed. Luckily lidl and tesco had plenty for me.

I usually do too but we were originally only setting off some small fountains until we got the goahead to use the in laws big garden so extra purchases were needed. Luckily we still had a load of fireworks from 2019 which were forgotten about, including half a box of the modern warfare box the range sold for 40 quid in the early bird deal from 2019. I was there at opening time on Oct 15th that year to pick up that box.
