I don't know weather Galactic have started buying from TNT as a big supplier?

They are great for pyro but... there's a few WTF's rolled in.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from ordering the TNT stuff they have but I fear it may be overpriced slightly.

Lets take the "TNT - Pyro Time" boxes. These are sold by Galactic as a bulk deal... £60 for 16 boxes (£3.75 a box). Not a bad bulk deal however it says the RRP per box is £14.99..... Not a chance in hell. ASDA got rid of the boxes they had for £4.99 a box the other year and they are nowhere near £14.99RRP (Consists of pure crap... 1 wheel, those party popper fountains and sod all else).

Then we have TNT "Star Struck" selection box. Pure crap in a box. £5 at ASDA, £5.99 at Galactic (reduced from "£8.49"). We all know what box it is.

I love Galactic but don't all year round sellers normally try and sell the best fireworks while slating supermarket crap? Opposed to selling supermarket crap for more than the supermarket sells them for?

By all means, the bulk deals seem OK, but aside from retailers, not many would want a "Pyro Time" box for £3.75 if they buy 16 in 1 go.

I can see it now at a re-seller... "TNT Pyro time... Only £11.99.... RRP £14.99"... eek

Retailers are in business to make money. the bulk deals are great and perhaps more retailers should do something like that ,but then , do I really want 16 boxes of anything. Like you say ,starstruck £5.99 at galactic , £5 at asda ,, probably just making up for the lesser profit on the bulk stuff.
Also ,silver lynx at £19.99 was selling for £7.99 at buyology last year. Ultimate power ,£24.99 was selling at lidl for £19.99 last year .

As for "supermarket crap" I don't think a lot of what supermarkets sell is that bad ,its just way overpriced . I think Aldi also sold silver lynx for £14.99 which wasn't too bad ,but if you had it for £8 it would be great . I don't think galactic would sell TNT fireworks if they were that bad.
Perhaps TNT are able to supply galactic a range of decent selection boxes at a good price whereas other pyro companies arnt able to and I think galactic should be congratulated on providing a good range of boxes ,, e.g Firework crazy don't sell any online ,though they do have certain packs at a higher price point.

At the end of the day , a retailer will sell a product for what they know they can sell at. Its up to us as consumers to shop around and get the best deals.

They're selling off the old BS7114 spec stuff in readiness for the new EC Cat 2 8m stuff coming in (and is legally required) from 4th July 2017.

Tbh the BS7114 selection box fireworks have a much better performance than the newer EC Cat 2 8m stuff that's replacing it-I had a TNT Merlin EC Cat2 spec selection box from Aldi last year and the performance was WAY removed from it's original BS7114 part 2 1988 specification sibling, one of the fountains was a DUD and didn't go off as it should, the Silver Dart rockets were absolutely crap with a weak silver flash than burst of silver stars with crackles on the previous version, and the rest of the fountains were SOOO watered in performance terms down it's UNTRUE, but to it's credit, the wheel and roman candles were rather good. I would give it 3.5/5 imho.

If I was in charge of TNT Fireworks I wouldn't put up with that cheap crap, I would cut my losses and look for better performance selection box fireworks to sell within a EC Cat 2 spec than flog any old thing at a inflated price. As I've said before QUALITY sells, rubbish flops! ;)

Tell you what, some of those bulk buy deals are very good, Fire Mission was OK for £20 at asda, it's great for £7.50. However, the others, whilst being great value, the cases are too large, who would want 16 of the same box?

As for the single boxes, the only one i'd consider buying is Star Struck, it was a nice box for a small garden display, and i don't think £6 is that bad. However, both silver lynx (Aldi) and ultimate power (Lidl) were sold for £5 less in the supermarkets, the supermarkets which every year are slated for selling 'overpriced Fudge Berries!'. If i was Galactic i'd drop these two and bring in the other boxes in the RP line, they already sell the Traitors box, and the 3 cheaper ones also offer good quality for a good price

Thanks for the info. Indeed some of the boxes are a lot better like Fire mission and on Galactic it's a really good price.

I completely agree with those silver dart rockets. Had several to launch a while back and was disappointed. 2 didn't even launch, the fuse burnt then nothing. Same thing with some of the wheels in the TNT boxes, a few didn't spin at all.

By "crap" I meant getting what you pay for. So if a supermarket sells a TNT box for £5, that's exactly what its worth. It will be mostly fountains, 1 wheel, maybe 1 traffic lights style candle and if you are lucky, a single shot airbomb style firework (I.e Comet bomb in pyro time box). It will suit the average consumer who only has a display on firework night with their small children.

For the bulk deal on pyro time, £3.75 a box is a good price, but the average consumer willing to spend £60 on pyro wouldn't buy 16 boxes. The total NEC is 3.6KG so unless someone was firing the whole lot in 30 days, they are only allowed to store another 1.4KG for an unlimited amount of time.

I expect it to mostly be shops that buy it, but then they will be selling it on for a profit with an idea that the RRP is £14.99. Not too good when the box is only worth about £6 at most. We may well shop around and know the true value but the average consumer will just see was £14.99, now £9.99 and think they are in for a good deal.

Anyway, hopefully they start selling bulk classic rockets again. Could really do with another box of Bat out of hell rockets or something similar

Got to remember that Asda can buy 20,000 units of one item, I don't think Galactic/specialists can.

Sorry if this has been mentioned several times lol

Don't think it's been mentioned, but that is a good point, their buying power is just huge

And you can just imagine how much ASDA make with that amount of units involved. All I will say about TNT there is room for improvements. so it is good that companies such as galactic are buying still so the manufacturers can make them better.

TNT have some really nice pieces, for the average buyer and us enthusiasts, just a shame to supermarkets go for the lowest wholesale priced items!

BS7114 spec Fire Mission is a fun selection and has some decent performing items too 5/5.
BS7114 spec Silver Lynx is that little bit better with three superb aerial fireworks Utopia Mine Barrage, Star Rider and Firetrap and some decent fountains roman candles and a nice wheel, it is something a bit better than a small box of fireworks 4/5.
BS7114 spec Star Struck is a nice entry level box with a good selection of small but nice fireworks for young children and toddlers. 3.5/5 ;)
